The pitch

A foundational programming-style automation puzzle about routing atoms, bonding molecules, and building reliable chemical reactors.

How it plays

SpaceChem remains important because it teaches factory thinking through strict reactor programs instead of belts and miners. Players route atoms, bond and split molecules, synchronize multiple paths, and build repeatable instruction loops that must survive every input without jamming. The interface is abstract, but the lessons are pure automation: timing, parallelism, resource transformation, and the pain of a design that almost works. Later puzzles become brutally compact engineering problems where one misplaced command can break the whole reactor. It is best for players who want serious puzzle structure and do not mind wrestling with a system until it finally clicks.
